When I was younger, my mom used to make Blackberries and Dumplings. I have yet to master that recipe. A few years ago, I was searching for a dessert that used blackberries, and I found this dessert for Blackberry Cobbler. I love it so much because it only uses 5 ingredients and you can substitute the blackberries for peaches, blueberries, raspberries, or even mixed berries.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Here’s what you’ll need:
1 1/4 cups sugar (divided)
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 cups frozen or fresh blackberries
Directions: Whisk together 1 cup sugar, flour, and milk until blended; whisk in melted butter. Pour batter into a greased baking dish; sprinkle blackberries and remaining 1/4 cup sugar evenly over batter. Bake at 350 degrees for an hour or until golden brown and bubbly.
*I only sprinkled enough sugar to cover the blackberries. It’s a lot less than the 1/4 cup that the recipe calls for. I had fresh blackberries on hand so that’s what I used this time, but most of the time I use frozen.
I decided to fix myself a little side of mixed fruit to go with my cobbler when it came out of the oven.
Here’s how the cobbler looked when I took it out of the oven after an hour. I could’ve let it cook another 10 or 15 minutes so that it could brown a little more, but it was still delicious!
I scooped up a nice size corner piece, and with a little vanilla ice cream and my fruit, I was in HEAVEN! Now it’s time to head to the gym! Have a great weekend everyone and let me know if you try this recipe.

I was just talking to my daughter about how my mom and I would pick blackberries when I was a child and give them to my Grandma so she could make dumplings with them! Your cobbler and fresh fruit bowl look delish!
Thanks Jennifer!
