If you’ve been following my blog, you already know that I go on a girl’s trip every year with a group of ladies that are not just my friends-we are family! This year we traveled to Punta Cana, which is in the eastern most province of the Dominican Republic. Several days prior to our scheduled trip, Haiti was hit by Hurricane Matthew. Haiti shares the same island as the Dominican Republic, but they are about 250 miles apart. Thankfully, the storm didn’t come anywhere near Punta Cana and we were all set to enjoy our much needed getaway.
We stayed at an amazingly beautiful, all-inclusive resort called The Paradisus Palma Real Resort. I even tried to capture how stunning the resort looks at night with it’s purple uplighting!
The first day was our travel day, so when everyone finally got to the resort, we basically just checked into our rooms, found something to eat, then relaxed in one of the lounge areas where we drank pina coladas, gossiped and laughed the night away!
The next morning, some of us ordered room service while others decided to dine at the buffet. The food was just o.k.-nothing to write home about. Some of it just needed a little extra seasoning. But, thank goodness we weren’t there for the food!
Then we met in one of the rooms before heading to the beach to enjoy the beautiful weather and a few cocktails.
After several hours on the beach and then deciding on which excursion we were going to do the next day, half of us went to get spa treatments and the other half decided to spend the rest of the day at the pool before deciding to go shopping.
The next day we went on our excursion on a Catamaran called Ocean Park. I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun this excursion was-it’s been 3 months and we’re still talking about it! It included snorkeling, swimming with stingrays, light snacks, all the RUM PUNCH you could drink, and ended with a party in what they call-The Natural Pool. The natural pool is a shallow part of the ocean where you get off the boat and into the water, the latest music is playing, and you party for over an hour. It might not sound like much, but let me tell you-it was all that! It was definitely, hands down, the highlight of our vacation.
As much as we hated to see this excursion and our trip come to an end, we still had to discuss and make a decision on where we wanted to go for our 2017 Girl’s Trip. We tossed around several ideas and we are currently in the planning phase for next year’s adventure.
