I spent a little over 7 years of my life in the military and when I saw this rayon spandex knit fabric on LaFinch fabrics website, I ordered it and patiently waited on the perfect pattern. So when MIMI G started a multi-cultural magazine, SEW SEW DEF Magazine, a few months ago and this PDF pattern came free with my subscription (Issue 1), I knew that this fabric would be perfect for it. (You can also purchase the PDF only Here) This is a very versatile pattern and I’ve included a pattern review below. Also, if you’re curious, you can purchase my sunnies HERE, my personalized dog tags HERE, and my pistol belt HERE.
Pattern Description: Misses Maxi Dress or High-Low T-shirt pattern that can be color blocked.
Pattern Sizing: XXS-2XL……I cut an XS up top and graded to a Small on the bottom.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very easy!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that you can do so much with this pattern. You can make it into a shirt, dress, beach cover-up…the options are limitless
Fabric used: I used a rayon spandex knit fabric from LA Finch Fabrics that’s now sold out.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: The only design change I made was that I eliminated the side slit. I also made a tie belt out of the left over fabric that I forgot to photograph. I guess I was having way too much fun during this photo shoot!!
Would you sew it again? Yes, but I think next time I will make the T-shirt version.
