I made the shorter version of this dress last year so that I could wear it on my girl’s trip to Punta Cana. I made it in a neon yellow crepe that I purchased from The Fabric Store in Los Angeles. I haven’t had the opportunity to photograph that version, but hopefully I will before the summer ends. Once again, you all have caught me in yet another maxi dress! What can I say, I just love them and I love them even more when I make them myself. I wore this dress during my Sew Sew Def Magazine interview before I changed into my uniform. Make sure you get a copy of it HERE – I’m on the cover!!
This is one of Mimi G’s patterns for Simplicity that I made out of a crepe paisley fabric that I purchased from Craftsy. I hope you all like it as much as I do! I also included a pattern review below. Happy Monday and enjoy your 4th of July!
Pattern Description: Misses Shirt Dress using Simplicity 8084
Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 8 top and graded to a size 10 bottom.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes and there’s also a sew along video HERE.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love everything about this pattern-the drawstring, the pockets, I mean…”hello” it’s a maxi dress!!!
Fabric used: I used a crepe that I purchased from Craftsy that’s now sold out.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I shortened the pattern top by an inch.
Would you sew it again? I see more of these in my future.

I love this dress on you Stephanie! You did a great job. You’ve inspired me to get to my unfinished project.
